Sigma is correct. Wasn't sure if they were going to total it or repair it but apparently I smacked it right on the rail.

I'll miss it and maybe someday I'll replace it with another e39, hopefully...

I had the same issue, disconnected the hood...

I had the same issue, disconnected the hood switch and haven't had a problem since. It's located on the drivers side right in front of the cabin filter.
