Check your ground connection at the battery, both sides of the cable. If it is good, hunt down the other ground straps (google that) and make sure they are tight and not broken.

Make sure the pins aren't bent by rolling them on a glass table, mirror, or some other piece of glass. Also make sure the area of the carrier where the pads make contact is clean and free of rust....
