i usually use the bmw jack and lift the car on...

i usually use the bmw jack and lift the car on the side (oem jacking point) and then there is enough space to use the floor jack to lift from the center

:) the front sub frame was removed with engine and trans ( not by me ) and the steering shaft separated from the splines ,fell on the ground somewhere and got lost . :tsk:

i have done an E38 740 steering shaft (same style as E39 ) if i remember correctly from the interior you have to undo the retaining bolt and remove the grommet on the fire wall, then working...

did you change the cam chain tensioners ? our e38 7 series had one of the cam tensioners that would make noise every morning until oil pressure reached it .
