Put everything back to factory standard with clean tight connections and earths. See if the problems go away. Check EVERYTHING, even the stuff you have not touched!

Replace the fuse with a 6w globe. While it lights up you have a short. When it goes out you have traced/fixed the short. You may have to remove the headlight globe to get a true reading.

Tow Bar Electrics

I fitted relays to the wires feeding my tow bar socket.
The car only triggers the relay with 1/40 of the power used by a park light globe. Power to the relays is from a fused permanent source....
