I had two metallic noises from the back. One was a definite rattle. It was the exhaust heat shield next to the fuel tank. Heat had weakened it and the "nuts" had broken...

The tyres are Dunlop SP Sport 3000 (almost factory spec for Europe I think?) and the wheels are 17" BMW style 71. I had never seen these wheels on a BMW before buying this car.
