Yep it seems to be the trick, Rick. Done all the same tricks with a different E36 and got the same result. Though ive noticed my previous 92 sedan and current 98 coupe have different mounting styles...

Ive seen it on Mercs...... ive seen it on VW's.... and on some BMW's.... and ive even had it happen on my car once....

There is a trick with the park lights that lets you have just one side...

Wow.... a 7 inch wide rim is fairly narrow for an 18..... most are 7.5 or 8 inches wide, and fit quite easily. Whether your particular wheel fits or not depends on the rim's offset......
