I would get some diagnostic software and read the IHKA module to determine the exact problem so I don't have to throw parts at it.

Barring that, I would probably just replace the water valve.

If you get ice cold air out of all of the center vents, but hot air out of the top and bottom, then your water valve isn't closing. This could be due to a faulty water valve, faulty evap/heater core...

If you want to rule out the water valve, set the AC to the middle vents and put the dial to three blue dots. This will bypass the heater core/water valve.

There's no control for driver/passenger side. Make sure that the dial with blue and red dots is set to all three blue dots. Technically this dial is only for selecting cold air out of the front vents...

You should have gotten a genuine BMW sensor. Our cars don't like aftermarket electronics. Also, you may have to reset the adaptations, like Bob alluded to.
