edjack, you are correct about the camshaft position sensor. I have no idea why I put crankshaft. It happens more and more after forty.

I am also looking into a smoke test this weekend.

The 540 should have two, but that code is for the passenger's side sensor. I know because I just finished replacing mine this evening.

The grommets get hard and worn over time. You should try replacing it. After I redid my valve cover gaskets, I had no leaking from the grommets. The old ones were very hard and needed to be replaced.
