Having one when I didn't need it. Cars are a horrible waste of time and money and unless you're wealthy, you should try to do without. That's my only real mistake.

For an older car, I'd look to 2006 and before model years for the bigger V6. That way, you avoid the turbos and their complexity. There are some nice Audis out there as well and with a huge VW...
