You need to replace your brake light switch. (Quick google or search of this forum will give you several DIYs). Make sure to look at yours before ordering to see if it's the 2 or 4 wire switch.

Same here. Even if it means cutting out a rusted chunk and replacing part of the floor pan. It's not like it has to be cosmetically pretty under the car, merely functional.

Just a heads up, you'll only find them in winter packages up to 95 in the 6 cylinder non-m cars. The 328 didn't come with an lsd. They got the wickedly terrible ASC instead.

Personally I wouldn't even entertain the possibility of driving a BMW with the temp gauge even a hair past the 12 o'clock position.

Typically a starter will fail so that you can hear it spinning (whirring) but there's no click. (Solenoid isn't engaging).

There are other failures, but in my experience this is most common.
