Some Z4's have AGM some don't. Either work fine. Mine had AGM initially but was replaced with a lead acid battery and works fine.

There are a few kits out there. Crutchfield has them or search on Google. It lets you put a DIN unit in the pace of the stock unit. The plastic holder covers the side areas.

I think I might use seat covers in the summer if I had a beige car! This is another reason I dislike beige interiors. Black is much better at staying clean looking.

I would, as you suggested, look into different pads. Hawk makes great pads(I use their ceramic pads on my M) and also take a look at EBC who has many different pads for different uses.
