If you buy a used unit just make sure the year is compatible. A 2000+ unit will not work in a 97-98. I made that mistake already.

Congrats, your car is very clean. The paint looks pretty good and I like the interior trim. The lip looks oem to me, I have one. The a.m. lips have very sharp lines. Notice how the edges are rounded...

I test drove an X5 with steptronic and I was not impressed at all. You do not have complete control over shifting. I found it to be annoying actually. I think you will regret not getting a manual.
