I have the same issue except mine is opposite from yours. Works when started in the AM but by the second start it quits.. The sensor I need is a front.

If I can offer some advise, while in there check for play in your water pump and condition of your fan clutch(look for an oily film). Only issue I had replacing the t-stat in our car was the bottom...

Well its been a while and I can report that...

Well its been a while and I can report that leaving the bluetooth on full time (referring to the Samsung phone) has worked wonders as I have had no more connection issues with the car. Hope that helps

Did you check the Fan Clutch or just the electrical fan? I can tell you after owning many Mercedes having a fan clutch that locks is important. The way to check is get the car up to operating temp....

Replace the Water Pump as thats what the fan is attached to. I'm just ordering the pump for our 02' due to the same issue. Some say its a 6hr D.I.Y doesn't sound too bad.
