As BMW specifies a yearly oil change, I wouldn't change the oil again. But (especially if your gas contains ethanol) I would definitely add fuel stabilizer to the gas tank and then drive the car...

The E46 was a much more comfortable car, but if the roads in your area are decent, I'd opt for the Z4.
