I can guarantee that the dealer WON'T replace just the voltage regulator - they will only swap in a new alternator. 90% of the independents will do the same.

Get the ZHP weighted knob - You won't be disappointed. It comes in both 5 and 6 speed. It's the best knob for any BMW, IMHO. I don't like any of the aftermarket options out there as all of them...
