The Prince

My first car was a 1966 Plymouth Valiant, hence the name, The Prince.

Slant 6, 3 speed automatic, dark blue. Very basic, but my first wheels.

I have been away from this board for quite a while, so, before asking my question, I did some searching.

A couple of days ago my heater/defroster fan stopped moving any air at all. If I am sitting...

This is the setup I have had on my car for the last 78,000+ miles. I bought Frozen Rotors (Eurosport floating in front, OEM in rear) from either HMS or Bavarian Auto (forget which, it was a couple of...

Check with the Heart of Dixie Chapter BMW CCA

The Heart of Dixie Chapter of BMW CCA is centered right around Birmingham. I went to their 2006 kick off event at Barber Motorsports museum and they are a very friendly group. Go to their web site...

It is the best forum

I think you'll find that the quality of answers here, the (almost total) lack of trolls, and the generally friendly and knowledgeable people here make this forum great.

To answer your questions....

First mod should always be . . .

the driver!

Bone stock, these cars are capable of far greater performance than most of us. Get yourself to one of your local chapter's driving schools at your earliest convenience. I started...

Thumbs up On the road again . . . top down, natch

I'm leaving Hattiesburg for New Orleans (~two hours away) in about an hour. It's in the 60s-70s and sunny. I'm sure I'll be paying for this winter mildness come summer time, but for now, I'm enjoying...

Ahhh !

I didn't know about the aerodynamic aids, but they sure sound like they'll help with high speed stability.

And I agree that the Couple is probably better suited to higher top speeds than the...

Top speed?

Any idea what your theoretical top speed will be?

I've seen an indicated 155 (which could be as low as 141 given BMW's optimistic speedos) on a deserted interstate in eastern Washington and it was...

Radio code . . .

There is no default code. Each radio has a unique one. The radio code is printed on a small credit card-sized dealie and is usually 5 numbers. You enter them with the radio turned on (and usually...

Radiator recommendation

Whatever you do, make sure that you put in an S54 radiator rather than the stock S52 part. That alone dropped my oil temps from a high of ~270 to around 230-240 when going up the same mountain passes...

And with no mods on the car, you'd have to wonder what makes him think it's worth such a premium!

More info please

What is 10 Years of Curves? Sounds interesting.

I won't be able to attend because I'll be heading toward One Lap of America for our fourth time, but I'd love to know more about this.

What I'm running

I've been running SO-3s 235/40YR-17 front 265/40YR-17 rear since May 2002. I put them on to increase the footprint, and, like D///Mill, for rim protection. I like the way they fill out the wheel well...

Thumbs up I'll Second that emotion

I agree. I had a body shop here in Seattle install Randy's kit on my car before I started One Lap of America this year. I thought I was doing it proactively; it turns out I had already popped a...

Mod ideas

The latest issue of Roundel has an article on a Dinan modded Z4. A bunch of good ideas in there, even if you don't want to part with the $ Steve D would want.

I do have a garage! In fact, you can see it in the picture taken looking at the windshield from the inside. Unfortunately, my son, Frank, has his 1985 535i up on jackstands with no motor or tranny in...

Nope, Just a busted windshield

As far as I can tell, that's all that happened. The guys at the glass shop replaced it the same day and they wouldn't have been able to if the posts were bunged up.

Here are a couple of pictures...
