Call the CA's manager and get a copy of the build sheet? Or call BMWNA and see if they can give you the details on the car if you give them the VIN? Just a couple of ideas..

I read in a Bimmer mag when they were testing a 335i coupe that the oil temp gauge was sticking until they shut the car off and restarted. Perhaps the gauge wasn't reading correctly?
