Yip its better to do a pressure test on the top, as I also noticed oil in my coolant during a thermostat change. It turned out to be a crack in the top al the way down to where it meets the block.

I had the same problem and turned out to be a worn center bearing. Ever since I replaced the center bearing the vibration is gone during accelaration and/or gear shifting.

Automatic transmission warning light

This morning when I started the car (E36 328I) the automatic transmission light came on and remained on. When I drove off, it was almost as if a gear engaged hard and car "launched" momentarily....

Can anyone please assist in the following regard.The rev counter tends to stuck at 4500rpm during heavy acceleration & car jerks. I did change the fuel pump & filter, but the problem persists :dunno:

I stand to be corrected, but I think your center bearing needs to be replaced.I had the same problem on my 328i (1996) and once I replaced the center bearing, the car's accelaration was smoother.
