If you want smoke out of rear tires, then you shouldn't pick smallest possible engine in e46.

New valve cover and oil cap. Couldn't resist in ebay, and that's how M43 looks like, if someone is curious. Don't have so much plastic on it, like newer engines have.

Ofcourse shouldn't use any more force than necessary, there's always risk of damaging some parts in process. Anyway often it's not possible to get something done in gentle way.

Already bit of sand can make the difference if brake disk is perfectly straight or not.
You could try lifting one wheel at a time...

Vacuum leak would be my guess. Had some similar sounding issue with mine and problem was crankcase-ventilation hose. Basically you should carefully check every hose which is connected to intake.

Possibly sway bar links might need to be changed, but damaging sway bars mean so heavy crash that car wouldn't be there anymore.
In CA even rust can't touch them so much.
