If you plan on storing the car for the winter I do not recommend taking it for a quick ride since it can cause moisture build up in the crankcase if you do not bring it up to full operating...

I didn't need to remove the charging coil to get it to work, all I did was remove the 8-pin chip and it worked flawlessly. I can't comment on the recharging though as I only had the car for 6 months...

You'll have to take it in to a dealer or indy to get it reset. You shouldn't have to fully disconnect the airbag for a regulator job. It wasn't reconnecting the battery but turning on the ignition...
