Perhaps BMW is revising the airbag recalls based on the NHTSA humidity zones...

On the bright side, there does not appear to be any damage to the quarter panel (metal above the right rear wheel). Replacing only the bumper cover, tailgate and hatch is easier to get a good paint...

I have had sway bar bushings make similar noises, although not on an E70. Silicone spray lubricant might be a quick fix. If the spray helps, it's likely time to replace the bushings.
