I always thought that cranks were positive pressure thats why we needed vents. I am guessing this is not the case on BMW as the new style CCV don't have a hose back to the intake...

Check to see if the noise goes away when you turn off the AC fan. That was the case for me the noise was a bad AC fan motor.
