The fusible link does nothing for the starter....

The fusible link does nothing for the starter. Effects seats, wipers, dash lights and other odds and ends, but the car will start with it broken.

There are bushings that wear on the wiper tranny....

There are bushings that wear on the wiper tranny. You can replace the bushings but it is a major pain to remove the wiper tranny. (like crying pain)

Going to guess that your spark plugs had nothing to do with the no start unless they were at deaths door. I would guess that your crank sensor is on the way out. It could be other things, like a fuel...
