I'd guess that is when the transfer case is "kicking in". I bet you'd also get it if you were in a snow/ice slipping situation where power had to be transferred.

Well, if the diff is dead then yes. If not, then I don't see how. Changing the fluid is never a bad thing so you can't hurt it imo.

I say definitely just change the fluid, drive it a day or two, change it again. Costs almost nothing to do that and its easy to do. I used redline 75 90.

I don't know the currency conversion rates. In the US I can buy the fluid for about 30 dollars. It's easy to change and I filled it till it ran out the fill hole. Took almost the entire liter.

Also, when I did mine it took about .9 liters to fill rather than the .69 that BMW claims fills it up.
