The actual electrical portion of the ignition switch is on the other side of the steering column next to the turn signal stalk.
Remove the upper and lower steering column covers behind the wheel.

I did just what you are asking for the glove box and trunk fuse holder. I bought the fuse connectors from BMW.

I've been using the ones BAV sells. Had them for 8-9 years. Can't say I noticed any difference in stopping distance either. Yes, less caliper deflection which is good.

On the V8 the fuel purge valve is mounted on the drivers side upper timing chain cover.
It has 2 vacuum lines connected to it and one electrical connector. There shouldn't be any pressure in it....

Read it at the Schrader valve test port on the fuel rail, it should be reading ~50PSI at that point.
It will read a few pounds higher if you are reading it closer to the pump....
