That's a good bet.... Either that or a water...

That's a good bet.... Either that or a water pump..... I would plan on doing both if they are original along with the thermostat housing.

Late to this thread, but your symptoms point to restricted air intake .

A dirty air filter will result in these exact symptoms over time as the onboard computer try's to maintain the air / fuel...

Do not ..... Your engine is designed to run on engine oil...period. Adding chemicals , etc is risky and not needed. If you suspect your engine is dirty because a former owner did not change the oil...
