The easiest way to go is mount them on the a-pillar. Autometer makes (or used to make) a dual gauge pod for z3 a-pillar.

I **think** a dealer can reset the dot if it bothers you. When I replaced my cluster, I got the dot, but I was working with a dealer and they were able to re-set.
