It could be the DME relay. I wouldnt buy a new DME until I was possitively sure I needed it. Did you check the fuel pump fuse ?

If there is no refrigerant in it or if the level is low the ac clutch will not engage. you have to unplug the electrical connector and insert a jumper wire to get it to engage.

Your battery may be weak. Try jump starting it while the car is hot and see if that helps. Or it may be a fault in the fuel injection system.
