That could be true about changing the fluid after it has never been changed. Transmission fluid is highly detergent and new fluid can potentially wash away contaminants that are "helping" the seals...

It's a bit of a PIA to change with the 2 sumps but don't ever follow "lifetime" fluid recommendations. It just goes against common sense. It's a marketing ploy.

I would probably syphon it off. You could jump power to the fuel pump and let it do the work for you, but make sure that you change the fuel filter after doing this.

I have a 3.38 and IMO, that is about the highest I'd go. In fact, I wish I would have chosen a 3.23 instead. Just revs too high for my liking on the highway.
