Well, just checked the Manual and it seems to recommend FAT32. I vaguely recall I had to get a smaller USB stick and use FAT, but maybe my memory is faulty.

Ok, I think officially, depending on OS, FAT only supports 2 Gig or 4 Gig. I use an older 2 Gig stick (I think, haven't done it for a while). Can the others comment on capacity of their USB sticks?

Maybe ... or it's for the expense of hosting you there, who knows. Keep in mind it takes a while for your car to make it to the US, so BMW pays for the 2nd lease to "make up" for the time you don't...

Go with dedicaded winter tires and rims. Safer. Used to drive a MX5 when I lived close to Munich. It wasn't the law back then, but a much less stressful drive!
