Interesting. My car does not have this contraption and it doesnt have any light blinking anywhere too. I only know its locked when the door locks go in and unlocked when it comes popping out again....

It is most likely the position sensor. Happened to me too. Usually its not perpetual and car would work fine on another day. Also, is your battery good? Poor battery too throws up this error message,
