I'll be checking mine a little more frequently as well. I certainly didn't expect the oil to be down 2 liters in 3,500vkms or so .... especially where I only topped it up once with a half liter...

I mean the oil mark was at the very, very bottom of the dip stick 'low' indicator section. The warning light came on about 10 kms before I left the highway. :tsk:

I wish the iDrive oil warning would come on at 1/8 or 1/4 level. My dip stick reading was barely negligible.

German engineers are very good, but they lack one helluva lot of common sense. :dunno:

Yes it does have a dipstick. I topped up the oil this AM when the engine was cold (it was showing 2/3 on the dipstick this AM), I had added 1.5 liters yesterday and then another half liter this AM.

They charged me 2 hours labor. Work order indicates: remove brakes and hub bolts, the axle was seized into the old hub, had to heat and press axle out, clean up mounting surface, install new hub....

Experiencing a rumbling sound in front right area ... could it be defective tire (Michelin, approx. 15,000 kms), wheel out of round, tie rod, etc? Any ideas?

The dealer wanted to do a test with a CAS unit but didn't have one in stock. The dealer is one hour from my town and when I tried the spare key and it worked fine, I said 'screw it' ... the X5 is out...
