I had been pressing the wrong way on the passenger side release latch (it needs to be pressed towards the rear of the car) and I eventually had to get get it replaced, spring/coil...

I went to four places today and no one has the right wattage bulb.
I emailed Peter Pan BMW up here...

Indeed, the wrong bulb. Strange that no one else is experiencing this issue of bulbs blowing after they replace with 2721, but I'm convinced it's not working for me ;)
