Agree. I don't touch them, but fdriller9 is right, there are wide variations in so called "pre gapped" single electrode plugs and I always gap those.

When oil had more ZDDP, this was true, you needed to give the zinc time to crush against the metal areas. ZDDP is all but gone now, replaced with moly, titanium, etc.
