Disaster...Advice welcome!!!

Finally got my car back together after the Alternator bracket/Valve cover job.
Hooked up battery and noticed a big spark when i connected the neg terminal.
Put key in, idrive etc fired up as normal...

Well seeing as i'm in the process of doing it, it makes a difference to the DIY for the valve cover gasket job as you have to manoeuvre the cover round the dipstick tube to get it off..had to wrestle...

No I have that. There is a metal plate that should cover the oil sump. Which sits to the rear of the plastic cover. It bolts onto the front axle.

I have this job planned for when I get back home in a couple of weeks. As well as cyl 5-8 valve cover gasket. Did 1-4 last month. Hopefully 5-8 should be a bit easier.

Might be worth trying an EWS and CAS realignment. I had an issue a while back with car cranking but not firing and a realignment sorted it. Can't remember if it was INPA or DIS I used to carry out...
