Pictures of wheels?
The M5 has different rear fender liners than the other E39's.
Also, the M5's rear fenders are rolled from the factory, in order to allow for the 275 wide rear tires.

I would definitely invest in a new version bmw oil dipstick tube.
The stock weeps are known to clog.
Sand and thickened oil can block the old version.

The boots are torn and cracked, but the tie rods are fine.

Or, you can get the new BMW version for the oil dipstick tube, that eliminates the small oil passages on the original tube.

I just replaced my ATF and filter from when the car was at 90k miles.
The car has 171k miles now, and also has an A5S-390R GM transmission.
I used Amsoil Universal ATF and an Elring transmission...
