Hey, thanks, You were correct! it was the gasket stuck to the body. I took a hair dryer to it and then tapped on the end of the two posts that the nuts tighten the lens down and presto, it cane...

I had the dealer replace the gaskets, which cost a whole lot and my soft top still leaked. I got out some silicone grease for laboratory stopcocks and have been lightly coating the rubber seals...

2000 M Roadster question: If you take the lens out of the car...that seems to be my problem. I have have removed the plastic receptacle that holds the bulbs and undone both the nuts that seem to hold...
