Replace your fan switch in the rad. It's about a $10 part. You'll need to drain the cooland from the rad. You'll need a 19mm wrench. It's on the upper passenger side of the rad.

E39's are notorious for electrical malfunctions. That being said for a cruiser they're far nicer to drive. If you're looking for bang for the buck you really should look to M3.
