I believe that the 97 was the only year that had the cruise button...

Confirm you can still open the hatch with the key. Sounds like the lock actuator has failed.

Had this happen to my 528. The part was $90 the labor .... mine....

Fuses are in glove box. On top you will see two plastic "latches" .....open... Tada fuses. Tucked in there is a plastic legend that has the location/description of the fuses....

Why not "absorb" all damage till just before return and then buying a new set of wheels and getting your insurance to repair any damages?
