I don't notice this effect on the rears, and I don't recall my X3 having this type of design on either of its brakes either.

Well, in that case, I 'think' ecstuning sells a coil+spark plug replacement set for around $360? Buy that and do it yourself. Might as well if you've got the whole thing opened up.

I had a bad coil replaced under warranty, and I've got a 2011 with 75k miles. (CPO, but wouldn't think a 2012 is out of its first 50k just yet)

Mine would kick in with the engine shuddering and vibrating under anything harder than light acceleration. Driving a manual helped a bit...
