I don't know why you would suspect the general module 3 as being bad. It sounds like a k-bus problem. Check the voltage on the k-bus and make sure it's less than a volt lower than the battery. ...

E39 528i 1997 - EWS-code (DWA-interface) not present or signal failure

That will only get the starter to go. The DME is not enabled by the EWS. A special code is sent from the EWS to the DME after it authenticates the key. Since the EWS is having problems with your keys...

I have an AK90 and blank transponders. You also need to take the EWS module out of your car and send that only. Without the EWS module the starter motor is disabled and the engine won't run.

Door Relay or Door Actuator?

Since it's a sedan and multiple doors I strongly believe the problem is the general module and not the motors in the doors.

The EWS module itself sounds like it died and needs to be replaced. Not a ring antenna, not a key, not remote initialization (which has nothing to do with the EWS), not a starter. Double, triple...

Key fob issue

The FZV will still work well without the antenna connected. The FZV receiver is in the mirror of convertibles, but, not sedans, coupes or wagons.

BMW 1.4.0 Scanner. Is mine wrong?

Sounds like you have a k-bus communication problem. You need to find the source of problem. Likely a pinched wire or corroded connector somewhere in the car.
