I have in mind an oil that works best in my 528i, but because my car now has 240,000 miles on it, it may not be best for someone else. It was recommended by my indie, made in Germany.

Nice thing that E39s are very affordable, and parts are easy to get. You'll get another if you are patient and look. If I buy again, I'm looking for an E46 with the same engine as my 528i.

Also, be prepared to find more than one spot where the oil is leaking. I changed my OFHG only to find *a couple* of other leaks. My indie says he sees more rear main seals than oil pan leaks, but...
