I used a Dremel with buffer pad and some polish and was able to work out a scratch that was on my wood trim. It's definitely worth a try - whats the worst that can happen, you order a new piece?

I hear the 2016 X5 may get the new 4.0 engine so I think it's definitely worth waiting if you can. Not that the 3.5 is any slouch, but unless you can get a smashing deal on a 2015 I'd hold off.

Yes, there is an option in CiC to turn on/off the guidelines and obstacle boxes.

Not sure if the guidelines and obstacle boxes are built into CiC Nav, the camera itself or a module. Tough to say....

Did you reset the code with your phone after you swapped the coil? It will go away after a week or so if you didn't, but always reset the car and erase codes after repairing the issue.

Sounds like the mechanism is bad. Head to the dealer and they can swap it out. Stop in so you can show them what its doing, and perhaps they can order the part ahead of time.
