I would replace the fuel filter right away if it hasn't. I had an intermittent stalling issue for a while and went away once I replaced the fuel filter, i think it was around 120,000 mile and hasn't...

It would be beneficial if you provided more information about the car like how many miles and maintenance history. That way is easier to determine probable cause.

No issues whatsoever after replacing the plugs and fuel filter, it still rocking the original fuel pump at 166,000 miles.

E46 M3 started with production year 2001. In 1999 was the year of the end of the E36 M3 platform. And if I recall correctly, M performance package (ZHP) for e46 was only available in 2004 and 2005...

1-That's normal behavior...the one orange that stays after full wrm-up at 7.5k is your warning zone, the two red starting at 8k rpm is your red line.
2-Look for another mechanic.
