I have a question for removing/reinstalling front struts. According to the TIS, it says to remove brake calipers (as a couple have mentioned), remove sway bar link, and remove outer tie rods.

Sorry to raise this from the dead...but I have a similar problem. Also, wanted to make a correction to the term "bemmer", it's actually bEEmer, for the motorcycle version. :thumbup:

Yes, drive it. I just crossed over 200,000 miles and I did the timing guides myself 7000 miles ago (193,625). Also, your car doesn't have VANOS (variable valve timing), only '99-'01 have them.

The peake code reader does pick up tranny codes. You need to use a diagnostic program that can read the tranny module.

Also, there is an option c. which is to rebuild the tranny yourself. Buy the rebuild kit and follow the DIY in the e38.org forum.

Yes I agree you can time each bank one at a time but if you're changing the guides and the timing chain then you need to lock both banks.
