Did the initialization again with the same results. The glass is resting on the very bottom of the seal more than the 1mm recommended. how do I adjust it up to mate with the seat better?

For the V8 the 15/16" Craftsman socket is about 4 bucks. Use only the 6 point version or you'll risk stripping the plastic nut and spoil your day.
