My Black and Decker air pump uses a regular plug, not a cigarette lighter. I think it pumps faster than a 12V one would.

Same here. I wanted a lighter even if I lacked an ashtray. I fixed that problem by getting a BMW lighter and moving the cover to the socket under the glove compartment.
