It isn't actually a "gasket". It doesn't actually seal out water (that's what the windshield's adhesive is for). It's pretty much just a cosmetic item, and they're cracked up on most E36s by now. ...

That trim reconditioner is pretty great stuff, isn't it? I used it on my exterior trim years ago and it still looks great despite being exposed to sunlight, rain, temps, etc.

Install a nice suspension, wheels & tires, and brakes before you consider adding more power. There's no point to adding power if you're rolling around on a worn out stock suspension with 15" wheels.

There's no point to removing the hood lining unless it's damaged or you have a race car. It isn't going to make a scrap of difference if removed from a street car.
