Sounds like a pinched wire..possibly in the harness coming through the back of the trunk. Could even be a moisture issue with water causing a short.

Drive shaft bearing was bad. I had it replaced less than three thousands miles ago. (97 4 cyl. Manual). It is doing the same thing again. Is there something else that would make this part fail...
