Somebody makes wheel spacers to fit the 72.56mm wheels to the 74.1 bore on the E39. Just can't recall who, but it isn't H&R.

Cutting coils is OK for a temporary fix, those of us who race will cut springs if we need to change the handling characteristics of a car if we don't have correct coils...
